OFFICIALLY TANYA HANNA

Tanya Hanna is a Bahamian music icon as well as a producer, songwriter, musician, and vocalist. She has toured in the Caribbean, the United States, Canada, and Hong Kong. Tanya has performed with top R&B artist Jeffrey Osbourne, as well as Grammy winners Jeff Haynes, Gary Haase, Roger Ryan, Stan Getz, and Chick and Gail Corea. A recipient of many awards, She also a wellness advocate and is actively involved in her local community.

My Family History

​

Let's start with my father's mom - Florence Woods, she was the pianist /organist at Wesley Methodist Church located on Blue Hill & Meadow Street for 50 years started playing at Wesley Church in. 1915 and was there until age 80. She died at age 98. My dad was born March 6th, 1912 and was taught the piano by his mother from age 3.  He was not only a musician but also an excellent tailor and an astute businessman in real estate and apartment rentals with 2 shops one in Meadow Street and Wulff rd. He studied piano tunning in New York, toured playing music and was known throughout New Providence for his versatile prolific piano style.  He started Woods Music School in 1964 and today it still continues with his grand daughter  Wandrea Rolle.

My sister Mercilee obtained her Masters from Barry University in Languages French & Spanish and taught in the Dade County Florida High Schools for 40 years in the school system and my other sister Pamela Woods obtained her BA in Music Education and taught music in the private and public school system in Cleveland Ohio, Grand Bahama and Nassau for 25 years. 

 

I obtained my BA in Musicology from NYU New York and MBA from Miami University.  Worked in the music industry for the past 40 years as a pianist, vocalist, and taught in Government public and private school sector for 12 years and continue to private tutor students in piano,  music theory and voice.  I am also an entrepreneur,  I have studied singing in languages with vocal training at NYU. My favorite singing language and singing style is Brazilian portuguese.  I have many certifications in health studies, nutrition, philosophy as I have an insatiable passion for knowledge.  CoFounder of The Inspire Foundation. Many music tours, concerts, innovations along with husband Paul Hanna.  Creator of Mix Match Music Game, authored Bahamian Musicians & Entertainers, Embracing You - selfcare guide and cookbook, Yardstick mentor program.
